Warrior

The Warrior class is a sturdy middle ground of all the classes with balanced stats in all areas, leaning towards HP and Defense. Compared to Vanguards, the top tanks, they have higher attack stats to make up for the relatively lower HP and Defense.

At the moment, the Warrior type as a whole is somewhat overshadowed by other types. When you need a tank, you would look to a Vanguard, and for damage, a Sniper. Ambushers, who have the same attack base stats, have a tendency to use status ailments to influence the battle, and Middle Guards tend to have elements which greatly affects their damage in the current meta. Supporters are of course, unique in their supportive role. Warriors’ identity pales in comparison, and tend to only be used as a decent substitute for when you don’t own a good Vanguard for the battle where you need a tank. Plus, they are often physical-damage only, and OPTS has  been focused on designing tough bosses with elemental weakness(es) and resistant/neutral to physical-damage for past months. They will shine if one day OPTS decides to make physical damage important again.

Special

photo 613a28f6-00ba-3cbd-8758-34306e1b11cf_zpsg8pgv41j.png To a Greater Height (SP Cost 120)
Mode Change into Haki mode. Auto-Skill becomes: The Haki surrounding him damages nearby enemies with Special damage, and buffs his own attack.
 photo d329447a-4c07-36e8-af59-000bf7e456b7_zpsxzw2w8ek.png Usero (Lv 10: PWR 210000)
Only in Mode Change. His Haki-imbued slash cuts open the ground before him and Stuns enemies. Special damage.

Watch

Strengths

  • At 210,000 PWR, Usero is one of the highest damage Special Attack in the game currently.
  • He can heal himself, which can help him get out of a pinch and increase survivability.
  • Strong against enemies weak to Special type damage, after his Mode Change.

Weaknesses

  • Usero’s range is long, but narrow, so it doesn’t help much in getting rid of mobs. Watch out especially for bosses moving out of range.
  • His heal and buff is rather limited and can seem like a waste of a slot, especially if you have a good healer on support.
  • Overall slow in movement and limited in range, he’s not very suited to deal with mobs.

Conclusion

Shanks is a very self-sufficient unit with high damage Special Attack and good survivability. Make sure to find him teammates that can get rid of the mobs while he focuses on wrecking havoc on the boss, use Stun to prevent targets getting out of Usero’s range, and you’re good to go.

Rashoumon (Lv 10: PWR 49500)
Draws his sword to counter when he’s attacked. Will also activate after a period if he’s not attacked. Physical damage. Ex Skill.

Special

photo fa8808c2-3c05-3900-bd64-eb824b7c0adc_zpsynuowlkh.png Dai Shinkan (Lv 10: PWR 100000)
Inflicts Fear on nearby enemies, then dashes to target for a heavy slash.

Watch

Strengths

  • High survivability from his auto-skill, Busoushoku Haki buff, and Rashoumon, which evades an attack to do a counter-attack.
  • Fear from Dai Shinkan also serves to make enemies run away from him; very useful if surrounded or about to take a heavy hit.

Weaknesses

  • As one of the first characters released, except for the newer skill Rashoumon, his skills and Special are among the lowest in PWR.
  • Zoro specializes in physical damage and not a single element. If a boss resists physical damage (e.g. Sentomaru), keep Zoro away.
  • Fear is a double-edged sword. Be careful not to scatter the enemies with Fear when your teammate is about to throw an AOE where they were gathered. Some players find that Dai Shinkan itself tends to miss because of Fear’s effect.
  • Overall limited in range, he’s not very suited to deal with mobs.

Conclusion

Zoro is great for beginners in the early game. Not only is he armed with all sorts of skills to basically not die, the event where you can get his medals repeat a lot in the first months of the game, and you can even earn his Dressrosa version (and a Lv1 Dai Shinkan) from the Beginner Challenge. Past the beginner stage, he is quickly outclassed by later units who benefit from the powercreep, while his only viable up-to-date attack is Rashoumon. He is one of the protagonists, however, so we can look forward to updated skills and Specials when the OPTS team feels up to it.

photo 99107f8e-5ca7-3dae-b809-d92a8e639aea_zpsbmx4uyaf.png Rankyaku “Gaicho” (Lv 10: PWR 100000)
Fires a Rankyaku in the shape of a bird, causing Wound. Physical damage.

Watch

Strengths

  • He moves around faster than most Warriors, and triple-strikes his target; this makes him pretty quick at clearing mobs (among Warriors).
  • Kamisori allows him to keep his distance and only dive in at high speed to attack. He is also momentarily immune to damage while doing this attack.
  • Rokuogan knocks down his targets on top of inflicting Fear on them. This is good for building Chain damage and/or relieving a dangerous situation.
  • Rankyaku Gaicho hits for a fairly big area in front of him and causes Wound effect, useful for helping to clear mobs around the boss.

Weaknesses

  • Lucci specializes in physical damage and not a single element. If a boss resists physical damage (e.g. Sentomaru), keep Lucci away.
  • Rokuogan has a slightly long animation and tends to get interrupted (especially by Snipers).
  • Fear is a double-edged sword. Be careful not to scatter the enemies with Fear when your teammate is about to throw an AOE where they were gathered.

Conclusion

With his skills all dealing damage, and at a middle-high range of high 30000s, Lucci is built to dish out high damage in a short period of time (e.g. Fever time). The animation (transforming into leopard form) when he performs a skill or Special feels like a drag sometimes, but that’s about his only main flaw. We look forward to him getting a Mode Change in future.
